REAL ESTATE APPRAISAL FORMS & DEFINITIONS
HOME APPRAISAL CHECKLIST
The following is the PHA checklist that we provide Agents and Realtors that request clarification or direction on what items or assistance is helpful when completing the appraisal of property. We hope you find this useful when interacting and communicating with your local Virginia home appraisers.
FHA APPRAISALS
An FHA appraisal serves two purposes; it determines the property's value similar to a conventional loan; however, it must also determine if the home meets the General Acceptability Criteria established by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
FHA Roster Appraisers observe, analyze, and report a property's physical and economic characteristics. An Appraiser's observation is limited to readily observable conditions and is not as comprehensive an inspection as one performed by a licensed home inspector. The Single Family Housing Policy Handbook 4000.1 is the FHA Home Appraisers' reference guide.
