Warren County, established in 1836, includes the town of Front Royal which is the northern gateway to Skyline Drive in the Shenandoah National Park. For 105 miles, this National Scenic Byway follows the ridgetops of the Shenandoah National Park northward to reach Front Royal. The views are among the best in this area of the northern Blue Ridge with plenty of scenic overlooks. The surrounding 200,000-acre national park features abundant hiking, back-country camping, and wildlife viewing. Other nationally protected parks that partially fall within Warren County include Cedar Creek and Belle Grove National Historical Park and George Washington National Forest.
Skyline Caverns is the closest natural wonder to the nation’s capital and hosts nearly 100,000 visitors each year. People come from all around to experience the rare anchorites, unique formations of delicate white spikes, spreading in all directions, including upwards, from their position on the cave ceiling. The Caverns include three underground streams and the 37-foot Rainbow Waterfall. Also, offered, are the Skyline Arrow, a one-fifth-scale miniature train, and the Enchanted Dragon Mirror Maze, a must for the young at heart.
We have considerable experience with Front Royal and Warren County. Whether you are looking to buy, sell or need a pre-listing, estate, or general-purpose appraisal, let us help you with your property valuation or home appraisal.
A favorite local park, Eastham Park in Front Royal, features paved walks, flat access to the Shenandoah River, a dog park, soccer fields, a playground, picnic areas, and more.
PREMIER PRO TIP – Home to unique neighborhoods and communities, Warren County has a much slower pace of development than other areas in Northern Virginia. Considered to be more rural with less residential and commercial development, homes are typically smaller and on larger wooded lots. Mountain views and privacy are important considerations for home buyers in Warren County. However, since Covid, there has been an increase in new home construction in the mountainous Shenandoah Farms area. Some of this can be attributed to the increase in the short-term rental market as it is a great destination for outdoor enthusiasts.
