Prince William County, located primarily between two major roadways I-95 and I-66 that run east-west to Washington, DC, is famously known for being the location of the First Battle of Bull Run, also known as the Battle of First Manassas. Fought in 1861 at a small stream named Bull Run near Manassas, it was considered the first full-scale battle of the American Civil War. The Second Battle of Bull Run, Second Manassas, was fought at the same location the following year in 1862. Today, you can often find Troy running the trails of the Battlefield.

Encompassing roughly 350 square miles, Prince William is an interesting county geographically, with varied terrain. Flat coastal plains meet the Potomac River in the east; running west these gradually rise to the Piedmont Plateau in the center of the county and the rolling foothills of Bull Run Mountain further west. Bull Run sits on the boundary of Prince William and Fauquier counties and ranges to a height of 1,280 feet above sea level, the county’s highest point.

Home to many unique neighborhoods and communities, the Premier Home Appraisals Northern Virginia office is in Haymarket. Where in 1994, The Walt Disney Company quietly purchased large amounts of land for a proposed Disney’s America theme park 5 miles from Battlefield Park. It was to feature the theme park, hotels, housing, a golf course, and retail and commercial development. However, it faced fierce opposition from local citizen groups and historians who objected to the potential impact on nearby historic sites. The land was sold to a local businessman who donated 405 acres to the National Capital Area Council of the Boy Scouts, who used the land to create Camp Snyder for Cub Scouts. In an interesting twist of fate, and after long extended battles, the area directly surrounding the Battlefield is now being heavily developed by Data Centers as the local coalitions that prevented Disney were unable to protect the rural crescent from this new wave of development. Property values are in a state of flux as the area has been a hotbed for those looking to cash out coupled with those looking to prosper from the Data Center rush. We are intimately familiar with Haymarket. Whether you are looking to buy, sell or need a pre-listing, estate, or general-purpose appraisal, let us help you with your property valuation or home appraisal.
